Voices from the Deep: Seminar on Jung, the Religious Function
and The Poet/Bard Archetype

MONIKA WIKMAN Ph.D. and RAY HILLIS, Ph.D.

During this 16 hour seminar we will discuss excerpts from these shared readings:
Jung's essays on Poetry, Analytical Psychology and Literature CW Vol:15
     Robert Duncan: Opening the Dreamway
Seamus Heaney: The Redress of Poetry

We will explore dream phenomena as part of the bedrock that informs poetic imagination,
and look into a number of dreams that reveal the poet archetype at work in the landscape of
the human soul.

The courage toinhabit more deeply the images that arise from the deep comes with the presence
of the poet archetype. And as we experience the life of the psyche and come to embody
and give voice to these experiences our individuality grows. Special attention will be given
in the seminar to the body as a deep wellspring and source of dream phenomena that
inform "bottom up" processing at the heart of poetry.
